A Police Inspector who was arrested on charges of sending a letter with the forged signature of the President’s Chief of Staff   and Advisor on State Security Sagala Ratnayake on a letterhead from the President’s Office to the Senior Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the North Central Province requesting the transfer of 14 police officers and also a transfer for himself was remanded until May 4 by the Anuradhapura Magistrate’s Courts.

Court also ordered the CID to present a report showing the progress of the investigation in connection with the incident to the court on that day. The information about this illegal act was revealed during an investigation regarding the receipt of a letter by registered post with the names of 14 police officers on the letterhead of the President’s Office requesting to transfer them from their current places of work to other locations.

It is mentioned in this letter that an investigation is going on regarding a petition received regarding the concerned officials, so they should be transferred to other stations.

Following investigations on the above, Police later uncovered that the suspect was engaged in this illegal act.
