Businessman’s Ambergris found in Pannipitiya house

The young man from Meegoda, who was arrested by the Police Special Task Force along with 14 kg and 300 grams of Ambergris which is formed  from a secretion of the bile duct in the intestines of the sperm whale, is said to be a person who runs a business that manufactures women’s shoes. The value of the Ambergris found in the possession of this businessman is said to be more than Rs.50 million.

He was arrested by the Special Task Force along with Ambergris in Niyadagala area of Pannipitiya in his footwear factory.The possession of Ambergris or its sale is prohibited under the Sri Lankan laws.

The suspect has told the police that the Ambergris was given to him by one of his friends from Galle who is a fisherman.According to the businessman his friend had told him to keep the substance safe until he finds a suitable buyer. The police are investigating.
