Galgamuwa Post Office robbed of Rs. 1.6 Mn

Robbers broke into the Galgamuwa Post Office and stole Rs.1.6 million rupees which was in the safe, police said.  

The Galgamuwa police suspect that the theft was committed between the night of April 30 and May 1. When the post office was opened after the holidays workers had seeing that the safe had been opened and had informed the police yesterday.

Police said that the thieves entered the office by breaking a door in the back area of the office.Then they entered the area where the safe is located, opened the safe using a key and stole the money there.

The police are investigating the incident.
