The Appeal Court yesterday extended the restraining order issued to prevent the arrest, questioning or recording of a statement by former Attorney General Dappula de Livera in connection with a statement he made to the media regarding the Easter Sunday attacks, until June 22.
The court issued this order when a writ petition filed against summoning to the Criminal Investigation Department was considered regarding a statement he made while serving as the Attorney General. The petition was called before Appeal Court President Justice Nishanka Bandula Karunaratne and Court of Appeal Judge M.A.R. Marikkar yesterday. Additional Solicitor General Parinda Ranasinghe, who appeared before court, stated that they need to consult the respondents regarding the matters mentioned in the petition and sought a month for the purpose.
The case was fixed for June 22 after taking the submissions made by both parties in account
