Suspect escapes from Police custody in Pugoda, surrenders at Aluthkade

The Kirindiwela Police said that a suspect who was arrested in a case related to a violation of traffic laws and was being taken to the Pugoda Magistrate’s Court had escaped after taking off his handcuffs and then surrendered to the Aluthkade Magistrate’s Court.

A resident of Kirindiwela, this suspect named Dushmantha Avishka had been arrested by the Kirindiwela Police on May 9. That is according to a warrant received from the Aluthkade Traffic Court.

This suspect had been taken to the Pugoda Magistrate’s Court in handcuffs by a Sergeant of the Kirindiwela Police, on May 9, intending to obtain an order from the Pugoda Court and produce him at the Aluthkade Court, through the prison.

The police said that when he was taken to the Pugoda Magistrate’s Court, the handcuffs had been loose and he had taken them off and run away.

While the police were conducting investigations to find this person, it was discovered that he submitted a motion to the Aluthkade traffic court on Thursday through a lawyer (11) and surrendered.
