Horana SJB organiser gets bail, passport impounded

Horana Samagi Jana Balawegaya Chief Organizer and former MP P. D. Abeyratne who was arrested for a shooting incident was released on bail by Horana Magistrate Chandana Kalansuriya with two sureties of Rs. one million each.

In addition to this, the Magistrate also ordered the impounding of the passport, taking the firearm into custody and temporarily suspending its licence through the Defence Ministry.

Police informed the court that when Abeyratne came to inspect his land in the Poruwadanda Boralugoda area in Horana onWednesday had expressed his opposition to outsiders being present on his land by the people who have been staying on that land for about three months.

Police informed court that when the suspected organizer went to that land on Wednesday he saw outsiders trespassing and staying in front of the house and he had an argument with them.

There, the organizer fired two shots in the sky with his firearm. Horana ASP Udaya Kumara and Headquarters Chief Inspector of Horana P.S.Panawala are conducting investigations under the direction of Panadura SSP Samantha Wedage.
