Pistol used by gangster Salindu found, suspect arrested

The Criminal Investigation Department yesterday said that the police seized a German-made 9mm pistol, which is suspected to have been

used by organized criminal and drug trafficker Salidu Malshitha Gunaratne alias Kudu Salindu, who is being interrogated on detention orders.

The Department said that one of his associates who was in possession of the magazine along with the firearm was arrested The suspect has been arrested near a temple in Hirana, Panadura based on the information disclosed by Salidu Malshitha Gunaratne. A senior police officer said that the suspect, (23) will be presented to court and a detention order will be obtained to question the suspect regarding the crimes committed using this firearm.

The Criminal Investigation Department’s Homicide and Organized Crime Division is conducting investigations.
