Death of Senior Lawyer Prematilaka

Former President of the Colombo Bar Association and Sri Lanka Bar Association’s Former Regional Vice President Senior Lawyer Gamini Prematilaka passed away on Thursday July 20. Born in Beralapanathara, Deniyaya, he was 88 years old at the time of his death.

A past pupil of Ananda Vidyalaya, Colombo, and Aquinas College Colombo, he was a well-known poet and writer during the 1970s and 1980s. Gamini Prematilaka’s wife was Mallika Prematilaka, who was Sri Lanka’s first female judge. Their only child Chamini, too, is a lawyer.

The funeral will be held at the General Cemetery, Borella on Saturday, July 22 at 4.30 p.m. The body is placed at No.92, Thalapathpitiya Road, Udahamulla, Nugegoda, for the Public to pay last respects.
