Malaysia’s Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development (MECD) Ministry and the World Tamil Chamber of Commerce, in strategic partnership with SME Corporation Malaysia (SME Corp. Malaysia) successfully conducted the International MSME B2B Meet recently.
At the two-day event, an impressive total of RM 22.71 million in potential sales was recorded, reflecting the tremendous prospects and flourishing business opportunities that unfolded throughout the programme.
The event took place at SME Corp. Malaysia headquarters in Kuala Lumpur Sentral with the support of the Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MAICCI) and was attended by more than 300 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from both Malaysia and India, as well as prominent entrepreneurs of the Indian diaspora from other parts of the world such as Australia, Canada, South Korea, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and Singapore.
The inaugural session was graced by Senator Puan Saraswathy Kandasami, Deputy Minister for Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development, Selvakumar, President of World Tamil Chamber of Commerce, Mohd Rithaudden Makip, Deputy CEO Policy and Coordination, SME Corp. Malaysia and Gobalakrishnan Narayanasamy, the President of Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MAICCI).
Deputy Minister Senator Kandasami, in her address, emphasised the spirit of entrepreneurship and the immense potential of MSMEs in fostering bilateral cooperation and strengthening the bond for the joint efforts of India and Malaysia. The Malaysian Government is fully committed in empowering MSMEs as the core of economic growth and prosperity, implementing comprehensive policies, allocating significant resources, and fostering a business-friendly environment to drive their transformation, competitiveness, and global success.
In this regard, she provided assurance that the Malaysian Government will enthusiastically offer its support, while acknowledging the commendable endeavours of the World Tamil Chamber of Commerce and SME Corp. Malaysia in organizing this B2B meet, which has effectively unveiled fresh avenues for entrepreneurial ventures in Malaysia.
Both Selvakumar and Makip agreed on the pivotal role of this event as a cornerstone for enhanced economic cooperation, trade advancement, and fostering a deeper understanding between traders from India and Malaysia, while emphasizing that collaboration and partnerships are crucial catalysts for the success of MSMEs, making this event an ideal platform for fostering meaningful connections between MSMEs from both nations.
During this event, a significant milestone was achieved as the World Tamil Chamber of Commerce, represented by Selvakumar and Kumareason on behalf of the Divine Bharat Chamber of Commerce, entered a respective Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MAICCI, with the presence of the Deputy Minister.
In his address, MAICCI President Narayanasamy expressed the federation’s unwavering commitment to providing comprehensive support and cooperation to Indian traders, thereby propelling the India-Malaysia economy to new heights of success.
The event also witnessed the launch of a comprehensive e-directory featuring India–Malaysia traders, providing valuable details and fostering a robust network among various traders’ associations from India, including over 120 traders, as well as Indian state traders’ associations in Malaysia, encompassing importers of small grains, textile importers and exporters, and agencies involved in the import and export of traditional Indian medicinal systems like Siddha and Ayurveda.
