A private bus driver who is the suspect in the case where he is alleged to have obstructed an SLTB bus travelling towards Nittambuwa Town and
had assaulted the bus driver in the head with an iron rod causing grievous bodily harm, was ordered yesterday to be remanded by Magistrate Manjula Karunaratna.
The suspect who was remanded is B.M.G.Saman Kumara aged 36. He is a resident of Meda Mahanuwara Madegamadde area. Nittambuwa Police who acted upon the complaint made on the obstructing of a SLTB bus and assaulting its driver conducted inquiries and arrested the suspect.
Police Constable, M.R.S. Kumara (66396) attached to the Courts Unit of the Nittambuwa Police station informing of the details of the incident said that both buses, the private bus and the SLTB bus had passengers travelling from Colombo to Kandy and that the suspect had blocked the SLTB bus and got down from it and approached the victim and assaulted him.
The Police officers further revealed that bus driver who suffered from grievous bodily harm was admitted to the Wathupitiwala main hospital.
After the evidence of the Police officers was heard, the suspect was ordered to be remanded.
The case was led by Police constables H.R.S. Kumara and H. V. Rohana of the Nittambuwa Police station Courts Unit.
