A coordinated search operation conducted by the Navy and Food and Drugs Inspector Unit in Anuradhapura on Monday (14) led to the apprehension of a suspect with 11,377 capsules of Pregabalin 150 mgs. The prescription drug had been available for sale by illegal means at a pharmacy in front of the Divisional Hospital Medawachchiya, when the apprehension was made.
The search operation was conducted by SLNS Pandukabhaya in the North Central Naval Command in coordination with the Food and Drugs Inspector Unit in Anuradhapura. During the search, a suspect in connection to this incident was also apprehended.
The suspect held is a 40-year-old resident of Medawachchiya area and the suspect along with capsules was handed over to the Food and Drugs Inspector Unit in Anuradhapura for further legal action.
