Football Sri Lanka (FSL) has decided to conduct their election of office bearers on September 29 when the officials and 67 leagues met at a Special General Meeting held in Colombo on Monday (14).
This decision was unanimously decided upon when the representatives of 67 leagues and on the request made by the world governing body FIFA who had gathered at the meeting.
The newly elected members that sums up to 13 members will run the affairs of FSL for a four year term as stated the new amended constitution in compliance with FIFA guidelines.
Three members headed by former retired High Court Judge ULM Majeed were elected to the election committee that will foresee the election. The others are Bandula Atapattu and retired General Upali Gunasekera.
Nominations for the election commenced on Monday and will close by 3 p.m. on August 19. The dates to file objections were set from September 1 to 3 and the committee will look into these objections on September 4. On the same day the final list of candidates eligible to contest the elections will be disclosed by the committee. (TBR)
