Two held over killing after Facebook post

Two persons who aided and abetted in the murder of a person during a break in at a house in Dodangoda, Kalutara were arrested by Dodangoda Police yesterday.

Police investigations have revealed that the murder was committed in connection with a post published on the Facebook page saying, “Drug trafficking is a headache for the village” by the deceased. The car in which the suspects fled after committing the murder and a knife used in the murder have also been taken into Police custody as evidence.

Police said that Dimuth Chamika, a thirty-seven-year-old father of children, who was a resident of Dodangoda, Dolelanda area has been killed in this incident. When the deceased returned home from a party held near his house on the night of August 14, one of the drug dealers in the area and his group broke into the house and killed him, attacking with him sharp weapons. A Senior Police officer said that the killing was done based on the post published on Facebook and an attack made by the deceased some time ago.The arrested suspects are to be produced in court.
