Education Colleges suffered Rs.936 Mn damage during Covid time – Minister

Education Minister Dr. Susil Premajayantha said in Parliament yesterday that a damage worth Rs.936 million had been caused to the countrywide Colleges of Education which were used as Covid rehabilitation centers.

The Minister also stated that this loss has occurred due to the destruction of physical resources during the use of these places for the Covid rehabilitation activities.

The Minister said this while answering the questions raised by the Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa.

The Minister said that necessary funds have been requested from the World Bank for the reconstruction of these places and an advance of Rs.200 million has been received as the first stage. The Minister also stated that it is planned to complete the renovation of all 19 NCOEs by June next year.
