Makilangamuwe Sanjeewa’s associates get death threats

With the publication of media reports that after Makilangamuwe Sanjeewa, an underworld strongman, was arrested in India, the members of Sanjeeva’s  faction have received death threats from opposing gangs.

Intelligence sources say that there have been many shootings, assaults and intimidation at the houses of Sanjeeva’s associates and relatives in Makilangamuwa and they are afraid to even complain about it.

According to the intelligence agencies, even Makilangamuwe Sajeewa’s house in Ganemulla, where his wife and family live, was fired at in the early hours of Friday (25).

Ganemulla Police said that a group of four came on two motorcycles with their faces covered and carried out the shooting with a T-56 rifle and revolver. They stopped the two motorcycles in front of the house and fired at the house.

A senior police officer said that investigations are underway to identify and arrest the suspects involved in the shooting.
