Marambe siblings win Diving titles for Royal and Bishop’s

Royal College and Bishop’s College sibling captains made history yet again by clinching the Boys and Girls Overall Championships at the MILO-sponsored 48th Sri Lanka School Aquatics Sports Championships held on August 24 and 25 at the Sugathadasa Stadium Aquatic Complex.

Following their recent victories at the 47th National Age Group Diving Championships, the two-day meet saw a repeat of exceptional performances. Royal College, led by Matheesha Marambe, Coached by Prasad Dissanayake amassed 242 points. Meanwhile, Bishop’s College, led by Kithmi Marambe and Coached by Kasun de Silva secured 197 points to claim the MILO Championships. S Thomas’ College and St Bridget’s Convent secured the Runners-up positions, accumulating 53 and 75 points respectively.

Royal’s divers secured four Age Group Titles, with Matheesha Marambe clinching the Under-20 Championship, Yusuf Shihar taking the Under-18 Championship, Mikhail Jayaweera winning the Under-16 Trophy, and Ruel Wickramarathne dominating the Junior Under-14 Championship across all ages groups.

Bishop’s Captain Kithmi Marambe emerged victorious in the coveted Under-20 Girls Championship. Kisara Ranawaka of St Bridget’s Convent secured the Under-18 Girls Championship, while Akeesa Hewavitharana of Sirimavo Bandaranike Vidyalaya claimed the Under-16 Girls Title. Manudi Gunaratne of St Bridget’s Convent clinched the Girls Junior Under-14 Championship.
