The Asia Cup Super Four match between India and Pakistan was interrupted by rain after India were 147-2 in 24.1 overs after being invited to bat. However, due to the new rule, this game will commence today (Reserve Day) from 3 p.m. India will resume their innings from 147 for 2 wickets in 24.1 overs while India will clash with Sri Lanka tomorrow at the same venue.

The two umpires, Chris Gaffaney of Australia and Sri Lankan Ruchira Palliyaguruge inspected the pitch and ground three times: at 7.30 pm, 8 pm and 8.30 pm. The umpires tried to commence the game at 9 pm but the showers got heavy as the game was called off at 8.45 pm, yesterday.

A spell of heavy rain stopped play at 4:52 p.m.

Openers skipper Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill both made fifties to give India a solid start adding a 121-run stand in 16.4 overs. Sharma stroked his way to 56 off 49 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes and Gill made 58 in 52 balls with 10 fours.

Leg spinner Shadab Khan made the first breakthrough getting Sharmas’s wicket in the 17th over while paceman Shaheen Afridi took Gill’s wicket in the 18th over and Agha Slaman took the catch at the Cover position.

The experience Virat Kohli was at 8 runs not out in 16 balls, while K.L Rahul was unbeaten on 17 in 28 balls with 2 fours.
