Fifteen year old fourth year Hockey player who plays as a forward, member of the Champion team in the National Schools Tournament and under 16 team in the All Island Schools Hockey Tournament and in 2022 representing the combined Schools Hockey Tournament and at Club Level representing Wenappuwa at the National Sports Festival in 2023 and representing North Western Province at the Junior Nationals and Member of the 18 th ESOFT Blue and Gold Hockey Sevens Champion team Hasarali Nethpraba Fernando has brought honour and glory for her alma mater Holy Family Convent Wennappuwa with her deeds in the field of Hockey.
Hasarali who hails from Lunuwila was bom on 19 th February 2008 and initially admitted to Sri Rahula Primary School, Lunuwila and after passing the grade five scholarship exam with flying colours she was admitted to her present school in 2019 when Rev.Sister Priyangani was at the helm of the school. when she came to her present school her parents Anton Fernando and Samanthi Jayakody decided that their daughter should do at least one sport and handed over her to the School teacher in Charge of Hockey Mrs. Priyangani and the Hockey Coach former airman Milan Boteju.
Her first tournament was in 2020 when she was selected for the under 13 All Island Touranment at Minintale and they could not come up to expectations. As an under 13 player she was selected in 2022 for the All Island Schools Tournament and they won the third place. Same year at the National Schools Tournament they were the schools champions and again in 2022 as an under 16 player she played for the underl9 All Island Schools Tournament and in 2022 they were the Combined Schools Hockey runners up.
Same year in the club level she represented the Wennappuwa Hockey Club and they were the second runners up. This year representing the North Western Province in the Junior Nationals they won the second place. Recently participating at the 18 th ESOFT Blue and Gold Hockey Sevens Tournament organized by Royal College Hockey Club and played at Reid Avenue they won the ladies tournament for the first time by beating formidable and more fancied Ladies College Colombo by 2 goals to nil and Hasareli played a vital role for Wennappuwa Familians to clinch the Trophy for the first time.
