The Padukka Police said that 21 school students and a female teacher who were injured in the accident that occurred yesterday (15), were admitted to the Padukka Regional Hospital due to colliding with another bus at Thunnana, Padukka, which was coming from Narammala to Homagama with a group of students from Narammala.
The Police said that the accident occurred when six buses carrying a group of students of Narammala Mayurapada Maha Vidyalaya were on their way to participate in a conference being held at Institute of Nanotechnology in Homagama Pitipana.
A spokesperson of the Padukka Regional Hospital said that 18 students who were admitted to the Padukka Regional Hospital after the accident suffered only minor injuries and three students were transferred to the Homagama Base Hospital for further tests and their condition was not serious.
The driver of the bus involved in the accident has been arrested on suspicion by the Padukka Police. Padukka police conducted an investigation into the incident.
