The OIC of Pundaluoya Police said that legal action will be taken before the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate’s Court against the father who poisoned his two children’s food and tried to commit suicide.
A 35-year-old man who works as a tailor living in the upper part of the Harrow Tea Estate belonging to the Pundaluoya Police gave his 11-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son poisoned food to eat at home and tried to kill himself as well by eating the same food. Police said that the three were transferred to the Gampola Teaching Hospital after being admitted to the Kotmale District Hospital by the neighbours living in the estate.
The suspect told the Pundaluoya Police that he was upset because his wife had left him and his two children and tried to kill himself and the two children by mixing poison in the food of his two children.
The suspect’s home is currently kept closed.
