1,996 housing units project agreement to be signed in China next month
The agreement regarding the 1,996 housing units, built with the help of the Chinese government for low-income earners and creative artistes and journalists, will be signed next month.
The Urban Development and Housing Ministry said the signing of the agreements will take place during the “Belt and Road Initiative” (BRI) summit in Beijing, China in October.
Urban Development and Housing Minister and Chief Government Whip Prasanna Ranatunga said that out of this, 108 houses will be given to artistes and journalists built in the Kottawa Palathuru Watte area. 1,888 housing units will be allocated for low income earners.
The Chinese Government has given Yuan 552 million financial assistance and the Government of Sri Lanka signed the relevant exchange letter on January 9 last year.
Minister Ranatunga said that through this project, a solution will be found for the settlement of the residents with less facilities.
