St. Lawrence Gymnasts excel in Malaysia

The total Gym International Gymnastics tournament was held from August 18 to 21 in Malaysia. Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand Sri Lanka and Malaysia were the teams which participated in this tournament. There were many areas of Gymnastics as artistic, rhythmic, gym dance and the two Lawrentian teams took part in the “Gym Dance”event. Lawrentian team A which was the under 15 team, had nine participants led by Dahami Perera. Participants were Dinuli Ranatunga, Hashmi Ryan, Hirundhi Dharmapala, Inukshi Duthika, Minuli Pieris, Nimshi Fernando, Shenaya Cooray and Tharushi Dharmarathne. They achieved the fourth place and were the best in their age group.

The Under 12 team, which was the Lawrentian B team headed by Teresa Ferdinand, included 10 members. They were Greeta Paulin, Nethuli Samarawikrama, Rosanne Perera, Sansa Wasala, Trinity Perera, Trisha Raphella, Ujesha Vanderputt, Vinaya Himsandhi and Vinolee Amanda. They won the Bronze medal and were the top team from Sri Lanka in their category. The teams are grateful to their principal Rev Sr. Mary Dilrukshi, coach Thushara Indika and their Teacher in charge Miss Shalinie Jayasinghe.
