Lanka Sathosa ordered to deposit Rs. 24 Mn for retired employees

Fort Magistrate Thilina Gamage yesterday (27) ordered Lanka Sathosa to deposit over Rs. 24 million to be paid in Court in accordance with the agreement reached based on the arbitration award related to the 146 retired employees of Lanka Sathosa.

The Magistrate also ordered that the payee document be prepared and the related money be deposited in Court today. The Magistrate made this order according to the request made by the legal officers who appeared in Court on behalf of the Labour Commissioner.

Also, the Magistrate who had ordered the Labour Commissioner to calculate and file a report regarding the gratuity due to the 346 employees who are currently employed and who will retire in the future, had ordered the Lanka Sathosa Administration to pay the money.
