G. Denetha Avihinsa Fernando and H.A Heshani Hettiatachchi have been selected to represent Sri Lanka at the 19th Asian Games 2023, in Karate sport which is being held in Hangzhou in China.
Denetha Fernando couched by Shihan Thushara Ratnayake and Janeesha Fernando will participate under male 67kg Kumite event while Heshani Hettiatachchi coached by V.L.J Padma Sri Manjula will participate in Kata event.
Denetha is still a 20-year-old who has represented the National team since 2016 and is a two times South Asian Champion, 5 times National Black Belt Champion, 4 times All Island School Champion and also 3 times School Games Champion. He got his primary and secondary education from Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa.
Heshani is a 25-year-old who has represented the National team since 2013. She is a graduate of Sports Science and Management at Sabaragamuwa University.
