Elephant Seetha undergoes surgery

Seetha the she elephant receiving treatment after being shot at by a Civil Defence assistant attached to the Wildlife Department, underwent surgery yesterday (4) afternoon. This surgery has been performed by a team including Senior Professor Dr.Ashoka Dangolla.

Prof. Dangolla said that this operation was performed with the aim of removing a part of the bullet that had entered elephant’s body.

One of the places where the bullet had entered was slightly cut and the parts inside it was taken out and instead of lumps of iron, something like powder similar to iron was found there the professor further stated. He also emphasized that that will be confirmed after the inspection.
