Colombo Additional Magistrate Harshana Kekunawela ordered yesterday (4) to acquit three employees of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation from all charges in the trial which lasted for nearly 20 years regarding an allegation of breach of trust in a stock of kerosene worth Rs.three million.
In fourteen cases filed by the Criminal Investigation Department allegations were not proved beyond reasonable doubt and the three suspects were thus acquitted. It is stated in the allegation that around 18/12/2006, a secret tank was installed in a Bowser fuel vehicle of the Kolonnawa Petroleum Corporation and fuel was taken outside to be sold.
