Pastor Jerome has insulted other religions – SSC

Senior State Counsel (SSC) Shaminda Wickrama stated in the Court of Appeal yesterday (4) that Pastor Jerome Fernando, who is currently avoiding Court, has insulted other religions to promote  his religious ideology. He said that the comments he made cannot be taken lightly. This was stated by the Senior State Counsel appearing for the respondents including the Attorney General when the writ petition filed by the Pastor seeking an order to prevent his arrest in connection with an incident where he allegedly made a statement insulting Buddhism and several other religions was taken up in Courts. The senior State Counsel, who appeared on behalf of the Attorney General, presented a preliminary objection regarding this petition.

He also mentioned that the offence committed by the suspect cannot be taken lightly and that he has insulted other religions to promote his religious belief.
