Woman from Kalana’s gang held for possessing Ice

The Police Special Task Force said that a 27-year-old woman named Ima who runs the drug network of Kalana, an organized criminal currently hiding in Dubai, who is said to be a henchman of Ganemulla Sanjeeva, was arrested with the narcotic ice in her possession, on Wednesday (4).

The STF has identified that the suspect who is a resident of the Enderamulla area of Wattala, goes by the name of Ima and is the person who transported the firearm related to two shooting incidents in the Dunumala area and Negombo.

The suspect was arrested with narcotics during a raid in Kurukulawa based on information received by the STF.

A total of five grams and 490 milligrams of the narcotic ice and a mobile phone were seized from the suspect and she was handed over to Ragama Police for further investigation.

It was revealed that this suspect had taken the firearm on the instructions of Kalana on July 14 to the shooting site in the Dunumala area and on August 12, to the shooting site in Negombo.

Sub-Inspector T.N. Dharmawardena and a team of Police officers took part in the raid, under the supervision of ASP (Intelligence/Special Operations/Anti-Narcotics and Organized Crime Prevention) Sagara Kulasekera, according to the instructions of Director Intelligence, Superintendent of Police M.M.K. Wijesinghe, based on the orders and instructions of Commanding Officer of the Special Task Force DIG, attorney-at-law Waruna Jayasundera.
