CID to arrest officials over substandard immunoglobulin

Maligakanda Magistrate Lochana Abeywickrama yesterday ordered the Criminal Investigation Department to arrest the officials who were allegedly involved in importing and distributing the substandard immunoglobulin to government hospital after preparing forged documents before November 16. The Magistrate made this order when a complaint made by civil society organization against bribery and corruption and the Collective of Civil Societies to the CID was taken up before the Magistrate court yesterday.

The complainants say that this deal has caused a fraud to the tune of over Rs.1 billion.The CID was also ordered to produce the suspects in court on completion of the investigations into this fraud.The Magistrate also imposed travel ban on several persons who were allegedly involved in the fraud.
