State Minister of Finance Dr. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya has instructed officials of the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) to take measures to fill the 210 vacancies currently existing in the department.
The State Minister also instructed the officials to speed up the recruitment process for 66 posts currently approved by the Department of Management Services.
The State Minister gave these instructions in the meeting held on Thursday (26) with the members of the Association of Inland Revenue Commissioners at the Finance Ministry.
The State Minister said that the Government’s aim is to provide maximum facilities for the proper running of the Inland Revenue Department, which contributes about 60 percent of the country’s income.
State Minister Siyambalapitiya said that attention has also been focused on announcing a specific date for the implementation of the Ramis system, which is the main step in introducing digitization to strengthen the tax network.
