Rakwana Police said the mother of a student who scored the highest marks in the Grade Five Scholarship model paper was admitted to the Rakwana District Hospital for treatment due to an assault by another student’s father.
The incident took place on October 31 near a shop in Rakwana town and the Police said that the suspect hit the cheeks and head of the victim.
The students of the parents involved in the incident are from the same school and have also participated in a tution class held in the city for next year’s grade five scholarship exam.
There, the child of the beaten mother, who was in a rather poor condition, started to show his talent by getting more marks than other students from the model papers. The Police said that several mothers of the other children got angry and had an argument with the mother who was beaten and then their husbands also intervened in the argument.
Police said that when the assaulted mother dropped her child off at school and went to a market to buy vegetables, the suspect came near the store and assaulted the woman.
