Two arrested over assaulting PC

Deniyaya Police arrested two persons for assaulting a Police Constable who went to investigate a complaint about breaking of a water pipe.

This event took place in Deniyaya, Kolawenigama area.

Police said that the assaulted officer is currently being treated at the Deniyaya Hospital.

It has been revealed that the suspect and his friend assaulted this officer and both of them were drunk at that time.

Police said that first the two suspects threatened the Police officer and then assaulted him and tore his uniform.

The two suspects are aged 32 and 31.
