Over 450 school principals appointed in Uva Province

Uva Province Governor A.J.M. Muzammil presented appointment letters to 451 new principals who passed the competitive examination for the recruitment of Principal Grade III to schools in the province.

The ceremony was held on Tuesday (7) at the Library Auditorium, Badulla, under the patronage Governor Muzammil.

Acting principals and teachers of the schools in the province appeared for the competitive examination of principals and 363 were selected for the position of principal in Sinhala medium schools and 88 were selected for Tamil medium schools.

The newly appointed principals will attend a one-month training programme from November 16. They will assume their duties in the schools from January.

State Minister of Primary Industries Chamara Sampath Dasanayake, State Minister of Education Aravindh Kumar, Badulla District Member of Parliament Major Sudarshana Denipitiya, Chief Secretary of Uva Province Damayanthi Paranagama and Secretary of Provincial Ministry of Education Gemini Mahindapala were also present.
