Five employees who robbed from own factory arrested

The Katana Police said yesterday (9) that five employees had stolen goods worth around two million rupees from a factory which manufactures beauty and salon equipment and sells them to a number of countries around the world.

The factory is located in Kadirana, Katana and the products manufactured here are sold through 10 sales centers and showrooms across Sri Lanka and are being exported to many countries in the world including Canada, Australia and the Maldives.

This factory had been broken into by five employees working there, on November 4 and the stock of goods which were stolen had been disassembled and then sold online at very low prices. The Katana Police had acted immediately, upon receiving this complaint and have arrested the five employees of the factory who committed this theft along with the goods that were preparing to sell online. The arrested employees are to be produced at the Negombo Magistrate’s Court.

Investigations will be carried out on the instructions of the Negombo Superintendent Palitha Amaratunga, under the supervision of Chief Inspector Sudasinghe, Officer-In-Charge of the Katana Police.
