De Mazenod, St. Peter’s, Thurstan and Jaffna CC into semis

De Mazenod College Kandana, Thurstan College Colombo, St. Peter’s College Bambalapitiya and Jaffna Central College advanced to the semi finals of the Under 19 division 1 Tier A, B and Two Tier B Inter schools limited Overs cricket tournament.

Last year’s runner up Thurstan College Colombo beat Dharmaraja College Kandy by 168 runs in the quarter final.

Division One tier A quarter final match between De Mazenod College Kandana and St. Sebastian’s College Moratuwa was haulted due to rain. De Mazenod College Kandana advanced to the semi final with the highest average points in the first round. Match abandoned between defending champion St. Peter’s College Bambalapitiya and Mahinda College Galle in the division One tier B quarter final due to rain. St. Peter’s College Bambalapitiya advanced to the semi final with the highest average points in the first round.

The quarter final match between Jaffna Central College and Henegama Central College was abandoned due to rain at Katugastota. Jaffna Central College advanced to the semi final with the highest average points in the first round. Shanikya Deshapriya of Thurstan College Colombo scored 87 runs and Sri Lanka youth cap and skipper Thurstan Colombo Vihas Thewmika claimed 5 wickets for 18 runs.

Defending champion St. Peter’s College Bambalapitiya will meet last year’s runner up Thurstan College Colombo in the semi final in next week.
