3000 athletes for National Youth Games

The 34th National Youth Games is set to take place from the 16th to the 19th of this month at the Sugathadasa Stadium, Colombo. With 3000 athletes from all districts of the island participating, the event includes two categories for youth aged between 15 and 29 years: upper and lower 20 years.

The top four athletes, two from each division, will receive Rs. 250,000, and the district that wins the championship will receive Rs. 200,000, with the runner-up and third-place districts receiving Rs. 150,000 and Rs. 100,000, respectively, along with a trophy.

Additional rewards include Rs. 10,000 for event records, Rs. 50,000 for a national record, and Rs. 35,000 for the team competition championship. The second and third-placed teams receive Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 25,000 each.
