Cop’s second wife tries to kill him

An attempt on the life of a Police Sergeant was made by his second wife and another individual on Tuesday (14), using a machete.

The sergeant is attached to the Kotadeniyawa Police Station.

This incident had taken place on Tuesday morning in a house located in Diyagampala, Kotadeniyawa. The sergeant who was seriously injured was admitted to the Kurunegala Hospital. A senior police officer said that the sergeant had separated from his first wife and that it was his second wife who had tried to kill him.

The Kotadeniyawa Police said that the second wife (38) is a resident of Bopitiya, Kuliapitiya, and the other assailant is a 44-year-old resident of Katukenda, Badalgama.

The police said further that investigations have revealed that the assault took place due to a family dispute. The two suspects were to be produced before the Minuwangoda Magistrate’s Court.
