I am very disappointed to miss both 2019 and 2023 world cup said Sri Lankan champion leg spinner Wanindu Hasaranga. I always played for my country and any cricketers dream is to play in the world cup said Hasaranga who had a hamstring injury and underwent successful surgery in England and returned home
After LPL my injury was almost healed but during training once again got injured and had to be off the field for sometime .He was the B Love Kandy team skipper who guided them to LPL final and without him Kandy team emerged champions.
We have busy International calendar and everyone has to play cricket as professionals and I also did same thing .We can’t prevent injuries and we also tried to keep our fitness .
When I played franchise cricket people said I never play for my country . I have played very few franchise tournaments including IPL but always give priority for National duty said Wanindu Hasaranga.
The doctors gave advice to get 12 week rest to get full recovery and already five weeks now completed and further seven weeks have to wait to get full recovery
However from next week I am .going to start my training gradually and my aim is to play next January in the Zimbabwe series and hoping for a full recovery he said
Wanindu Hasaranga s absence was a big loss for Sri Lanka team at the world cup.
