It is an essential factor to make fishermen aware of places in advance where fish is abundant in the sea

A discussion was held under the auspices of the Minister of Fisheries Douglas Devananda yesterday at the Ministry of Fisheries, in order to introduce Technological instruments to fishermen required to identify places in advance, where the fish is found abundantly in the sea.

Expressing views at the discussion, Subodha, the Chairman of Zinthu Martime Solutions Company which develops new Software Apps stated that through a Software App the places where the fish is found abundantly in the sea can be identified, and forecast correct information to the fishermen. The Chairman added that through the software App developed by their company, more correct information than the information provided by NARA institute can be provided.

This Software App., has been developed based on the information received through ELOG and the Satellite Technology and through ELOG, correct information on fish, fishing vessels and the current price of fish can be received. Expressing further views the Chairman stated that this App. can be used in Sinhala, Tamil and English languages and his Company is prepared to provide this App. for a less price compared to other countries.

Expressing views at the discussion the Minister of Fisheries Douglas Devananda stated that currently NARA institute is taking measures to provide information in advance on the current situation of the sea and the places where fish is in abundance, using the modern technology. The Minister instructed the relevant officials to make aware of fishermen regarding this App after the consultation with the experts at NARA, if the Software App. developed by Zinthu Martime Solutions is more productive.

A group of officials including the Secretary to the Ministry of Fisheries Indu Rathnayake, the Director General of Fisheries Department Mr. Susantha Kahawaththa and the Chairman of Fisheries Harbour Corporation attended this event.
