Maligakanda Magistrate Lochana Abeywickrama yesterday allowed the Criminal Investigation Department to obtain statements from six persons including the Treasury Secretary, the Deputy Secretary, Chairman of the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation and the Director General of Health Services in connection with the investigation into the import of 22,500 vials of substandard human immunoglobulin antibody vaccine by preparing fake documents.
The Magistrate also ordered the Health Ministry Secretary to provide the documents related the appointment of former Health Ministry Secretary to the Criminal Investigation Department
As this stock of medicine was imported through an Indian Credit Line, the Magistrate also ordered the Health Ministry Secretary to hand over all the documents required for the investigation by the Criminal Investigation Department.
