Former Sri Lankan fast bowler Dhammika Prasad started new role as a coach as he commenced a very worthy programme named “Fast Bowling Talent Hunt” at the De Mazenod College grounds Kandana.

Prasad who retired from International cricket later became a coach while he did his service first to Nepal and later he came back home to do his service for the cricket development. Fast Bowling Talent Hunt is a new concept of mine while former Sri Lanka fast bowlers get together to make this program a success. We invited most of the beginners as well as young fast bowlers of the clubs who has very limited facilities and our aim is to give correct guidance to build up their talent properly. Not only that after successful programme we also get responsibility to give these fast bowlers a chance to find suitable clubs to continue their cricket career, added Prasad.

The 40 year old Prasad has played 25 Test matches as well as 24 ODI’s and a one T-20 International. He was able to get 75 Test wickets and 32 ODI wickets in his eight year International career. I couldn’t take part in the 2015 World Cup as before the World Cup I had a finger injury and returned home from Australia but I know any type of cricketer like to play World Cup.

Today we knew several rural fast bowlers have talent but no guidance to come up and I wanted to give something for these bowlers to get into National and International level, said Dhammika Prasad.

Sri Lanka former skipper Arjuna Ranatunga and Lasantha Amarasinghe the Chairman of Chance Sports who was a former fast bowler himself and National cricketers Dinesh Chandimal, former National fast bowlers Hasantha Fernando, Isuru Udana, Charitha Buddika were present at the launching ceremony of the Fast Bowling Talent Hunt Programme at Kandana.
