Tipper crash kills one, injures driver

Athurugiriya expressway Police said that a woman died and a driver was seriously injured from an accident that occurred between two container trucks in the Colombo outer circular highway.

The deceased was a 39-year-old resident of Sevanagala area.The injured driver was admitted to the Homagama Hospital. Police investigations have revealed that a tipper truck stopped due to a flat tyre and another tipper truck had assisted that truck. After some time, while the tipper truck that had a flat tyre was driving towards Matara, it collided with the back of the tipper truck which assisted them. The deceased woman was in the passenger seat of the collided truck.

A senior Police officer said that the two drivers will be arrested due to the unauthorised stopping on the highway.
