Peradeniya engineer found dead in hotel room

Police say that an engineer was found dead yesterday afternoon (29) hanging himself in a resort in Peradeniya. Police investigations have revealed that the deceased is 49-year-old Jeevan Liyanarachchi, a resident of Ratnapura.

The deceased engineer’s wife works as a professor in the Faculty of Science at the Peradeniya University. They live in a university residence with their two children. The husband has been receiving treatment for stress. The body has been kept at the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital mortuary for the post-mortem.

Police have also found a letter written by the engineer before he committed suicide. The Peradeniya Police is investigating the incident.
