In a strategic leap towards fostering global citizenship and academic brilliance, CINEC Campus, Malabe inaugurated the Department of Chemistry, introducing the Bachelor of Science Honours in Chemistry. Accommodating a maximum of 40 students at a time, the inaugural intake is scheduled for January.

Candidates with three simple passes in Biological or Physical science streams at the G.C.E (Advanced Level) Examination or an equivalent qualification and a satisfactory English proficiency level are welcome to partake in this prestigious undergraduate program.
This limited capacity ensures a focused and personalized learning environment, allowing students to benefit from individualised attention and immersive educational experiences.
This program spans four years, with the initial two years establishing a robust foundation in the principles of science and essential skills. The subsequent two years focus on a major in Chemistry, culminating in an engaging capstone research project that puts theoretical knowledge into practical application.
Integral to the program is a mandatory practical/on-the-job training/industrial training component in the fourth year. This ensures a holistic learning experience, offering two distinct pathways for specialisation: an 8-credit Research Project or an 8-credit Industrial Training facilitated by CINEC’s dedicated placement services.
The Department of Chemistry at CINEC is led by Prof. Samantha Weerasinghe serves as the Dean, and Dr. Nimshi Fernando leads as the Head of the Department is supported by a panel of experts, including Prof. Sithy Iqbal, Prof M. C. M. Iqbal, and Dr R.D. Guneratne, the Faculty of Science and it to be further fortified by the ongoing recruitment of new staff, solidifying the institution’s commitment to academic excellence.
