In a tradition spanning 28 years, Asian International School proudly hosted the Inter-International Schools Swimming Championship at the Sugathadasa Swimming Pool Complex last month.
The event united nearly 1,000 swimmers from 21 member schools affiliated with The International Schools of Sri Lanka (TISSL). This year’s swimming meet showcased intense competition in both boys’ and girls’ categories, resulting in the establishment of numerous new records.
Outstanding swimmers in each category earned the coveted Age Group Championship titles. The prestigious Under 20 Age Group titles were jointly secured by Christina Perumal of Asian International School and Kaitlyn De Zilwa of Stafford International School in the girls’ category, while Binura Talagala of Lyceum International School, Nugegoda, clinched the title in the boys’ category.
Under the precise direction of Nihara Bagoos, the Head of the Sports Department at Asian International School, the event was conducted with systematic attention to detail. The Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union (SLASU) officials officiating at the meet ensured the enforcement of international standards in managing the event.
The conclusion of the proceedings on the second day featured a simple yet elegant awards ceremony. Several Heads of Schools from The International Schools of Sri Lanka (TISSL) participated in the ceremony, emphasizing the significance of the event in fostering friendly competition among the member schools.
