Lyceum, Wattala emerge champions

In a noteworthy stride toward enhancing the passion in the sport of karate amidst the school communities of the International Schools island wide, International Schools Karate Championship -2023 was held for the 12th consecutive year at Sugathadasa Indoor stadium under the patronage of Leeds International School on the 4th and 5th of November 2023.

Over 1000 participants from 16 International School of Sri Lanka assembled for this programme, Individual Kata and Team Kata events were scheduled on the first day and Individual and Team event of Kumite were held on the day second.

Niluka Karunarattne, a professional and premier Badminton player graced the closing Ceremony.

After a close competition with passion, Lyceum International School Wattala emerged Champions of the Tournament, securing 62 Gold, 47 Silver and 59 Bronze medals, scoring 510 total points. Leeds International School, bagging 46 Gold, 43 Silver and 57 Bronze stood as the 1st Runner up along with 416 points. The 2nd Runner up position was captured by St. Nicholas’ International College, securing 46 Gold, 23 Silver and 18 Bronze medals and 317 points totally, concluding a remarkable event in the school calendar.
