Investment Promotion Office opened in Madurai

In a bid to promote exports to India and woo more investments from this neighboring country to Sri Lanka an Investment Promotion Office was opened in Madurai, Tamil Nadu yesterday.

This initiative was made by the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Tharaka Balasuriya. The Minister who inaugurated this project said that with India’s economy booming he felt that Sri Lanka could reap more economic benefits by joining with them in promoting investment to Sri Lanka. Minister of Investment Promotion Dilum Amunugama selected one of the leading business personalities in the area, Vinayagam Murugesu as the Brand Ambassador for this project.

“We are also hoping to open two more Investment Promotion Offices in Chennai and Delhi early next year.” State Minister Foreign Affairs participated as Chief Guest of this ceremony while Advisor to the State Minister Foreign Affairs, Director of HDFC Bank and Chairman of the Palmyrah Development Board, Dr. Krishantha Pathiraja, also participated for the event.
