K.N.Kumari Somarathne who is a Special Grade Officer of Sri Lanka Administrative service has assumed duties as the Secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries.
She joined the Sri Lanka Administrative Service in 1995 and previously served as the Additional Secretary(Development) of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Aviation. In addition she has served as a Member of the Director Board of Sri Lanka Ports Authority, Export Development Board and National Aquatic Resources Research and Development Agency. She was appointed as the Secretary to the Ministry of Fisheries after the retirement of Indu Rathnayeke.
A group of higher officials of the Ministry including the Additional Secretaries Apsara Nissanka, .Dhammika Ranathunga and the Director General of Fisheries Department Susantha Kahawaththa attended the event.
