I will not contest Presidential election – MR

Kurunegala District parliamentarian, former President and SLPP Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa said yesterday (04) evening that he would not contest the forthcoming presidential election.

However, there are several suitable and qualified candidates within the SLPP by now for that and the proper candidate would be presented at the proper time, said former president Mahinda Rajapaksa speaking to the media yesterday (04) at the SLPP headquarters speaking to the media after a special meeting held there.

His party, the SLPP, is ready to contest all the future elections with confidence and nowadays, the SLPP has been organizing its provincial level public meetings with respective organizers to ensure the victory at the forthcoming elections. The former president further added.
