Sri Lanka’s most prestigious Educational Exhibition and the Job Fair, EDEX Expo 2024 will be ceremonially open at Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC), opposite Lake House tomorrow (9) commencing from 9.30 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.
Over 30,000 visitors including schoolchildren from Government, private and International schools and also from universities are expected at this three-day exhibition and job fair which concludes on Sunday (11).
Speaking to the Daily News EDEX Chairman Mahinda Galagedera highlighted the conducting of local and foreign educational courses by local and foreign educational institutions at the exhibition and said schoolchildren, school leavers, job seekers and university students are anxiously awaiting to receive academic, vocational, technical, professional and postgraduate courses for their future prospects.
He also mentioned that students will be able to select prospective employment opportunities at the job fair from several local and foreign leading corporates.
EDEX Chairman further said another Exhibition will be held at Kandy City Centre on February 17 and 18 and the objective of holding the two exhibitions are to create the awareness of Sri Lankan youth about existing educational courses and thereafter how to find employment opportunities here and abroad.
He further said all educational institutions which tie up with the EDEX organising committee have agreed to arrange discounted course fees, full or partial scholarships and also financial support options for students.
This year’s event will feature 132 education exhibition booths occupied by local and foreign universities and institutions from countries such as Australia, Japan, Canada, France, the UAE, Pakistan, India and China.
The programme is endorsed by several State institutions including the Prime Minister’s Office and the Education and Higher Education Ministry.
